Physics Words: Fuse

Simple Description

A safety device in a plug that melts if the current through it is too high

Further Detail

The fuse is always connected to the live wire. If a fault develops in the circuit and this fault causes the current through the fuse to go above the fuse's current rating then the fuse will become too hot and melt. This will switch the circuit off and protect the user.
