For example, a car driver will react to a danger on the road in front of them. The time it takes them to react is called the reaction time. Factors that can increase reaction time include if the driver is distracted, if he or she has taken alcohol or drugs or if their visability is poor. The distance a driver covers during their reaction time is called the thinking distance.
